Installation at Maudslay Sculpture Show - Summer 2008

One of the Green Artists League’s most successful projects is our “Air Your Dirty Laundry”installation/performance. A very important inspiration for this piece was National Hangout Day. In our performance, the public is encouraged to “co-create” our art installation by giving their “eco-confessions” to the GALs and then “come clean” by writing their confessions on used clothing and hang them on the laundry line. As viewers read the “eco-confessions” of others, they often recognize their own less-than-green lifestyle. The GALs spend time with the “eco-confessors” brainstorming solutions for positive change. The playful and supportive atmosphere of “Air Your Dirty Laundry” allows people to look at their consumption habits and empowers them to change.
