One of our most successful projects is our “Air Your Dirty Laundry” installation / performance. One of the main inspirations for this piece was National Hangout Day. In our performance, the public is encouraged to “co-create” our art installation by giving their “eco-confessions” to the GALs and then ‘coming clean” by writing their confessions on used clothing and hanging them on the laundry line. As viewers read the “eco-confessions” of others they often recognize their own less-than-green lifestyle. The GALs spend time with the “eco-confessors” in brainstorming solutions for positive change. The playful and supportive atmosphere of “Air Your Dirty Laundry” allows people to look at their consumption habits and empowers them to change.
